The Catholics who come from Kerala are called St. Thomas Christians. The reason for this name is history says they been evangelised by St. Thomas, the Apostle, who, according to tradition came to Kerala, India in AD 52 and martyred in AD 72. The Kerala Christians represent one of the oldest Christian traditions in the world, outside the West.

The Kerala Catholic Community gather together at the Parish of the Most Holy Trinity at the Catholic Parish Church of St Mary’s, Axminster to pray and to celebrate the Holy Mass in Malayalam every third Sunday of the month and also to meet to build a supportive community.

The majority of the people from Kerala are nurses, providing vital support to the Healthcare Sector. We come from Axminster, Seaton, Honiton, Colyton and surrounding areas – all are welcome.

Mary our Mother and St Thomas the Apostle pray for us.
