Fr Tomasz Margol’s visit and poetry reading for Remembrance Day
On Monday, 3rd November, our parish welcomed a guest, Fr Tomasz ZM Margol, who led a moving poetry reading in preparation for Remembrance Day. His words invited us to pause and remember with gratitude all who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom.
Fr Tomasz shared a few of his poems, “Jack the Soldier” and “In the Trenches.”
The first reflected on the brief, bright life of a young soldier whose memory endures in our freedom today, while the second captured the fear and hope of those who waited for dawn amid the darkness of war — both reminding us that love and faith endure, even in suffering.
He also read from his book ‘Lest We Forget’, which presents poetic reflections inspired by the 1917 diary of a fictional soldier Anthony O’Sullivan.
Other titles displayed included: Miriam, Who Is Like EL, Eight Tiny Stories, And the Word Was Made Flesh, In Christ, and The Creator — each offering spiritual insight through art and prayer.
Fr Tomasz’s visit left hearts uplifted — a reminder that remembrance is not only about the past, but about keeping hope alive in our present.
